Microneedling

What is Microneedling?

Known as the non-surgical face lift, Microneedling is a cosmetic treatment that causes the skin to stimulate collagen production. The treatment consists of a specialized “pen” Rejuvapen containing a cartridge with small micro needles that are used to break up scarring, tighten skin, improve skin tone and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Sessions last about an hour, and it is recommended 4 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart will produce the best results. A mild numbing cream will be used prior to the start of each session to provide protection against discomfort. After the treatment there will be some minor redness, and skin tightness. Similar to a sunburn, some soreness and swelling may occur as well but should not last longer than a few days.

After completion of the recommended treatment plan, results typical show countless benefits

  • Repairs and rejuvenates your skin naturally
  • Encourages cellular renewal at deeper layers
Stimulates production of collagen and elastin
  • Enhances texture and tone of your skin
  • Minimizes wrinkles and fine lines
  • Helps your skin look youthful, radiant and smooth

How Does Microneedling Work?

Microneedling, or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), at Total Implants & Periodontics® targets collagen and elastin by using tiny “micro needles” to create micro-wounds. The medical grade device we use at Total Implants & Periodontics for microneedling provides greater precision and less abrasion than other devices, which have been known to tear the skin. We also provide the option of combining our microneedling treatments with application of stem cell platelet-rich plasma (PRP) both during and following your microneedling treatment. The cytokines in the PRP help promote healing and healthy regeneration of your skin.

Microneedling treatments can be used to accomplish many of the same results accomplished by laser skin treatments or deep chemical peels.

I have now had two extraordinary experiences with Dee. She listened to my concerns and explained the process for Botox/Dysport and how best to look natural but still smooth out my lines. The staff were also so nice and welcoming, and explained the cost before injection so I could make sure I was comfortable either the price. All around great experience.

What is the History of Microneedling?

Over the years, medical science has discovered that the body has amazing self-healing and regeneration abilities. As we learn how these healing and regeneration properties work, we can harness this knowledge to improve our medical treatments. Microneedling is an example of how we have put that knowledge to use and how we continue to improve the process as we learn more about how our bodies react to different stimuli.

Our bodies automatically develop scar tissue to heal and protect areas of skin that have been injured or inflamed over the years. With microneedling, we send similar signals. But these signals tell your skin to develop collagen and elastin, the ingredients that keeps your skin looking full, flexible and youthful. As you age, your skin begins to lose collagen, leaving your skin thinner. Without the full layer of collagen under your skin, fine lines and wrinkles form. To restore the youthful fullness of your skin in a very natural way, collagen growth can be stimulated through the use of microneedling treatments.

Are you a candidate?

Rejuvapen can be used on all skin types and colors, however women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are not suitable for microneedling as the treatment can stimulate growth factors and regenerative nutrients that may be required for the baby.

Patients with active acne, local infections such as herpes or warts, moderate to severe eczema, skin conditions such as keloidal tendency and cancer patients are not recommended for microneedling treatments.

Dee is an incredibly talented injector, I recommend her to everyone I know that is interested. She is extremely detailed, kind and makes the process a walk in the park. In my opinion, some of the other injectors in the area tend to give everyone the same overdone look (think Kardashians - beautiful but obviously filled). Dee customizes for your face and everything comes out looking natural. I hope to be a long time customer!
