Dental Emergencies
What are Dental Emergencies?
A dental emergency can occur at any time and result in pain, discomfort and sensitivity. Emergencies should be treated quickly, as the problem can quickly get worse if it is ignored. We offer care and treatment of most dental emergencies, and can provide the help that you need in getting back to living a pain-free life. Emergency service is available to both new and existing patients, as well as pediatric and adult patients.
Why is treatment needed for Dental Emergencies?
If you ignore the emergency, you’re risking the problem getting worse. Over time, the problem can worsen, requiring more extensive and invasive treatment. Additionally, most dental emergencies cause pain and discomfort, so it can be difficult to get through your day when your tooth is aching, or you’re dealing with severe sensitivity, or a loose, broken tooth. Treatment can be done quickly and easily in our convenient office.
Dr. Patel does excellent work, and cares for his patients’ overall health. I was impressed by his new office, and the way in which his staff treats patients as well.
What are common Dental Emergencies?
We are able to handle a host of different emergencies that may come into our office. We begin the process by performing an exam to check for any problems and the best way to go about treating them. Some common emergencies include:
- Tooth pain and sensitivity
- Gum bleeding and inflammation
- Pain of impacted, or partially erupted, wisdom teeth
- Loose or lost restorations
- Loose teeth
- Broken, chipped, or cracked teeth
- Broken appliances (dentures, orthodontics)
- Infections
- Post-op complications
What can be expected during treatment of Dental Emergencies?
We will begin by scheduling you for a convenient appointment that works for your own calendar schedule. Next, we’ll take x-rays of the area, if needed, to help in diagnosing the problem. We will then perform an exam to check out the issue, and to help in creating a treatment plan for you. We can offer treatment of the emergency at this appointment, so that you can go home without the pain or discomfort you’ve been experiencing. If you have an infection, you may need to take antibiotics for a period of time before treatment can begin.
If you’re currently experiencing a dental emergency and know it’s time to seek treatment, call us today and we will work to get you in to be seen immediately.
