LANAP Laser Therapy
What is LANAP Laser Therapy?
LANAP laser therapy is used to help treat periodontal (gum) disease. A high-frequency, yet gentle, laser is used to remove infected gum tissue from the pockets that have formed around each of your teeth. The laser removes the infected gum tissue and allows the remaining gum to heal more closely to the tooth. The roots of the teeth are then smoothed to prevent bacterial adhesion in those areas.
Why is LANAP Laser Therapy needed?
LANAP therapy is ideal for patients who have mild, moderate, or even advanced periodontal disease. The procedure does not require any incisions, sutures, or surgery. Many patients find that LANAP is easier and less painful than other periodontal treatments available. We use LANAP laser therapy because it has been highly effective at stopping, and even reversing, gum disease.
Dr. Patel does excellent work, and cares for his patients’ overall health. I was impressed by his new office, and the way in which his staff treats patients as well.

What makes you a good candidate for LANAP Laser Therapy?
Prior to beginning laser therapy, you’ll come into our office for a consultation. Dr. Patel will examine your teeth and gums to decipher if you’re a good candidate for LANAP. Most of our patients who are interested in LANAP laser therapy can easily begin treatment. The treatment is quicker than other options, and requires minimal recovery time once completed.
What can be expected with LANAP Laser Therapy?
Dr. Patel will administer either local anesthetic or sedation of your choosing. We will then use a precise laser to work deep in the gingival pockets around your teeth. The laser removes any damaged or infected gum tissue in these areas, leaving healthy tissue behind. The roots of the teeth are smoothed so that the gums can heal against them, closing these pockets and reversing signs of gum disease. Once LANAP therapy has been administered, it is important that you take good care of your teeth to prevent gum disease from returning. This treatment is highly effective, and offers a minimally invasive alternative to surgery, incisions, and sutures.
